KB19319 - Unable to select or edit the folder redirection settings from the BAS
KB19319 - Unable to select or edit the folder redirection settings from the BlackBerry Administration Service
Environment
BlackBerry® Enterprise Server software version 5.0
MKS187841
Overview
While trying to change the folder redirection settings for a BlackBerry® smartphone user using the BlackBerry® Administration Service console, the following error is displayed while in the BlackBerry smartphone user's email settings tab: A general mailstore error was encountered while attempting to retrieve the users redirection settings. The redirection folders will not be displayed.
Cause
The secure connection password is set on the BlackBerry® Enterprise Server. If you are experiencing this issue, the following log line appears in the BAS-AS log file:
[com.rim.bes.basplugin.emailcommon.EmailManagerBase] [WARN] [BASX-2545] {u=23, uc=-1, o=0, t=6022} _getPersonalRedirectionFolderInformation error from mailstore getting personal redirection folders - Mailstore server exception occurred in function: JMailstore::decode, RPC host: , Error: 609 - Unknown error.
To verify that the secure connection password is set, please check the following registry key while logged on with the BlackBerry Service Account:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Research In Motion\BlackBerry Enterprise Server\Dispatcher
If a StringValue BippePassword is present, then a secure communication password is set.
Resolution
This is a previously reported issue that has been escalated internally to our development team. No resolution time frame is currently available.
Workaround
Warning: The following procedure involves modifying the computer registry. This can cause substantial damage to the Windows® operating system. Document and back up the registry entries prior to implementing any changes.
To clear the secure communication password, complete the following steps:
- Backup the registry key HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Research In Motion\BlackBerry Enterprise Server\Dispatcher\.
- Backup the registry key HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Research In Motion\BlackBerry MDS Connection Service\.
- Backup the registry key HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Research In Motion\BlackBerry Collaboration Service\.
- Delete the StringValue BippePassword under HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Research In Motion\Dispatcher\.
- Delete the StringValue BippePassword under HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Research In Motion\BlackBerry MDS Connection Service\.
- Delete the StringValue BippePassword under HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Research In Motion\BlackBerry Collaboration Service\.
- Restart all the BlackBerry Enterprise Server services.
Important: Restarting certain BlackBerry Enterprise Server services will delay email message delivery to BlackBerry smartphones. For more information, see KB04789.
