KB19458 - BlackBerry Client for Microsoft Office Communicator 2007 does not send some Japanese or double-byte characters
Environment
- BlackBerry® Enterprise Server version 4.1 SP6 and 5.0
- BlackBerry® Client for Microsoft® Office Communicator 2007
- Microsoft® Office Communicator 2007
- Issue Number 313700
Overview
All Japanese Hiragana characters or some other double-byte characters sent from the BlackBerry smartphone using the BlackBerry® Messenger are not sent to the receiver. No error messages are displayed on the BlackBerry smartphone and there no indication of failure displayed to the BlackBerry smartphone user.
The following logs lines will appear in the BlackBerry Collaboration service log:

Sending the same character from the CWA client on a computer to the BlackBerry smartphone user will send and display correctly.
Resolution
This is a previously reported issue that has been escalated internally to our development team. No resolution time frame is currently available.
