KB14030 - Unable to synchronize the Address Book over the air during the Enterprise Activation Process


Environment

  • BlackBerry® smartphones
  • BlackBerry® Enterprise Server
  • Microsoft® Outlook®



Overview

You are unable to synchronize the Address Book over the air during the Enterprise Activation process.



Cause

A contact entry in your Microsoft Outlook address book does not contain information in any of the following fields or shows up as a blank contact:
  • First Name
  • Last Name
  • Company Name



Resolution

In Microsoft Outlook, complete the following:

  1. Open Microsoft Outlook, and select Contacts.
  2. In the Current View navigation pane, select Phone List.
  3. Right-click Full Name and select Field Chooser.
  4. Add the First Name and Last Name to the fields by dragging each field name from the Field Chooser window, and dropping it into the field bar.
  5. Sort all contact entries alphabetically by first name, last name and company name. You can do this by holding down the Shift key and selecting the three fields.
  6. Each contact entry must have at least one field completed. Look at the top entries to see if information is missing in all three fields. If so, either fill in one of the fields, or delete the entry if it is not needed.
On the BlackBerry smartphone, complete the following:
  1. From the Home screen, select Options > Advance Options > Service Book.
  2. Select the Desktop [Sync] service book and from the menu, select Delete.
  3. From the menu, select Undelete to restore the Desktop [Sync] service book.
  4. From the Home screen, select Options > Advance Options > Enterprise Activation.
  5. From the menu, select Activate to initiate the wireless synchronization process.
