KB17963 - Unable to enable wireless calendar on BlackBerry smartphone after a wired activation
Environment
- BlackBerry® Desktop Manager version 4.5 and later
- BlackBerry® Enterprise Server version 3.6
Overview
After performing a wired activation using BlackBerry Desktop Manager, you are unable to enable wireless calendar synchronization on the BlackBerry smartphone. You will still see the option but it is set to NO and you will not have the option to change it to YES.
Cause
The option to use wireless calendar synchronization has been removed from later versions of the BlackBerry Desktop Manager software.
Workaround
Option 1
Upgrade the BlackBerry Enterprise Server software to version 4.0 or later that supports wireless activation.
Option 2
- Uninstall the current version of BlackBerry Desktop Manager.
- Install BlackBerry Desktop Manager version 4.3 or earlier.
- Install the BlackBerry® Device Software for the BlackBerry smartphone model being used, if the model requires high speed USB drivers. For example, the BlackBerry® Bold™ 9000 smartphone, the BlackBerry® Pearl™ 8220 smartphone and the BlackBerry® Storm™ 9530 smartphone.
Additional Information
Note: If the BlackBerry Desktop Manager software has been upgraded and needs to reactivate the BlackBerry smartphone, you will need to reinstall the earlier version.
