KB16299 - BlackBerry Enterprise Server version 5.0 setup application restricts the use of Microsoft SQL Server Authentication with a mirrored Microsoft SQL Server 2005
Overview
The BlackBerry Enterprise Server version 5.0 setup application currently restricts the use of Microsoft SQL Server Authentication with a mirrored Microsoft SQL Server 2005 database by design.
Cause
This is currently a limitation of the setup application. This limitation was implemented as it was not verified if the BlackBerry Enterprise Server components would be able to use Microsoft SQL Server Authentication with a mirrored Microsoft SQL Server 2005 database.
Workaround
Complete the following steps:
- Open the registry editor on the computer where the BlackBerry Enterprise Server is installed, and navigate to the following registry key:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Research In Motion\BlackBerry Enterprise Server\Database\
- Under this registry key, create a new registry called String Value.
- The name of this string should be called FailoverServerMachineName.
- The data value of this string will be the Windows NTŪ name of the mirrored Microsoft SQL Server database.
Note: This step will need to be performed on both the Primary and Standby BlackBerry Enterprise Server instances.
