Environment
BlackBerry Enterprise Server 4.1, 5.0
Overview
IBM Lotus Domino has the following security feature: "When receiving unencrypted mail, encrypt before storing in your mailfile". A company that enables this setting for a BlackBerry user in the user's person document may encounter a condition whereby a copy of an email messaege may appear as unencrypted in the Lotus Notes Trash folder for that user.
Cause
The following conditions need to be met to potentially expose this issue:
1. BlackBerry Enterprise Server Setting - "Rich Content Enabled" = 0 | Server Configuration - Edit Properties - Rich Content Enabled
2. IBM Lotus Domino Setting - "When receiving unencrypted mail, encrypt before storing in your mailfile" = Yes | Person Document
Resolution
There is currently no fix for this issue, but the following development ticket has been logged - ISN 345273 (Issue Number)
Workaround
Set "Rich Content Enabled" = 1
