KB19135 - Duplicate Calendar entry in Outlook caused by a delegate
KB19135 - Duplicate Calendar entry in Outlook caused by a delegate
Environment
- BlackBerry® Enterprise Server for Microsoft® Exchange
- Microsoft® Exchange 2003
- Microsoft® Outlook®
Overview
The BlackBerry smartphone user may see duplicate calendar entries if the delegate modifies a calendar appointment with Microsoft Exchange Cache Mode enabled.
Cause
Microsoft Exchange Cached Mode does not update the mailbox in a timely manner so it may cause an orphan or duplicate calendar entry in Microsoft Outlook. If that calendar item gets updated while the appointment is cached (on the delegate's mailbox), it does not update in the user's mailbox.
Resolution
Remove Exchange Cache mode from the delegate's Outlook profile.
For Outlook 2003, follow the following instructions:
- Go to Tools
- Select Email Accounts
- Under E-mail, select view or change existing email accounts and click Next
- Click the Change button with the Microsoft Exchange Server highlighted
- Under the Microsoft Exchange Server, uncheckUse Cached Exchange Mode
- Click Next and then Finish.
For Outlook 2007, follow these instructions:
- Go to Tools
- Select Account Settings
- Highlight the Microsoft Exchange Server and click Change.
- Uncheck Use Cached Exchange Mode.
- Click Next and then Finish.
