KB13020 - "MDS Service Unavailable" message received when browsing using the BlackBerry Browser
Environment
- BlackBerry® Enterprise Server
- BlackBerry smartphone
Overview
When a BlackBerry smartphone user tries to browse to a website using the BlackBerry® Browser, the following error message is displayed:
MDS Service unavailable.
Cause
The BlackBerry® Mobile Data Service is not enabled for the BlackBerry smartphone user.
Resolution
Enable the BlackBerry Mobile Data Service for the BlackBerry smartphone user by completing the following steps:
For BlackBerry Enterprise Server software version 3.6 and 4.0 - Open BlackBerry Manager.
- Right-click on the affected BlackBerry smartphone user.
- Select Enable Mobile Data Service.
For BlackBerry Enterprise Server software version 4.1
- Open BlackBerry Manager.
- Click on the affected BlackBerry smartphone user.
- Expand Service Access and click Enable Connection and Collaboration Services.
