KB01637 - "MAPI Initialize error 80004005" error message appears while creating or editing a Messaging Application Programming Interface (MAPI) profile
Environment
- BlackBerry® Enterprise Server
- Microsoft® Exchange 5.5 and 2000
Overview
While creating or editing a Messaging Application Programming Interface (MAPI) profile, you receive the following error message:
MAPI Initialize error 800004005
Cause
Cause 1
Microsoft Exchange System Manager has not been installed on the computer running the BlackBerry Enterprise Server.
Cause 2
You have not yet run the fixmapisvc.exe utility on the BlackBerry Enterprise Server.
Resolution
Cause 1
Microsoft Exchange System Manager has not been installed on the computer running the BlackBerry Enterprise Server.
Resolution 1
If you are running Microsoft Exchange 5.5, install Exchange Administrator on the BlackBerry Enterprise Server.
If you are running Exchange 2000, install Exchange System Manager on the BlackBerry Enterprise Server.
Refer to Microsoft Support for information on installing these programs.
Cause 2
You have not yet run the fixmapisvc.exe utility on the BlackBerry Enterprise Server.
Resolution 2
Run fixmapisvc.exe on the BlackBerry Enterprise Server.
- Copy the fixmapisvc.exe file from theTools folder on the BlackBerry Enterprise Server installation CD to the BlackBerry Enterprise Server.
- Open a command prompt.
- Type fixmapisvc.exe and press Enter.
