KB13016 - How To disable PIN encryption on the BlackBerry Enterprise Server
Environment
- BlackBerry® Enterprise Server version 4.0 SP6 to 4.1 SP6
Overview
The BlackBerry smartphone user is able to send personal identification number (PIN) messages within the same organization, but when sending to an external domain the PIN messages are not received.
Cause
PIN messaging is encrypted.
Resolution
To disable PIN encryption in BlackBerry Enterprise Server version 4.0 SP6, complete the following steps:
- Open BlackBerry Manager.
- Right-click BlackBerry Manager.
- Select update Peer to Peer Encryption Key.
- Select remove the encryption key used to encrypt Peer-to-Peer messages from all BlackBerry smartphones within this organization.
- Select yes to update.
To disable PIN encryption for BlackBerry Enterprise Server software version 4.1 SP2 (4.1.2) and later, complete the following steps:
- Open BlackBerry Manager.
- In the Explorer pane, select BlackBerry Domain.
- From the task menu, select Service Control & Customization.
- Select Update PIN Encryption Key.
- Select Remove the existing corporate encryption key.
- Click Yes to confirm the changes.
