Environment
- BlackBerry® Device Software 4.0 to 4.7
- BlackBerry smartphone
Overview
To change the default messaging service book, complete the appropriate set of steps below depending on which version of BlackBerry Device Software you are running.
Note: The Desktop (or BlackBerry) service book is the service book associated with a work email account using a BlackBerry® Enterprise Server.
For BlackBerry Device Software 4.0
- From the Home screen of the BlackBerry smartphone, click Options.
- Click Message Services. The default service book is highlighted.
- Display the menu and select Change Option.
- Select the service book that you want to set as the default messaging service book.
- Display the menu and select Save.
For BlackBerry Device Software 4.1
- From the Home screen of the BlackBerry smartphone, click Options.
- Click Advanced Options.
- Click Message Services. The default service book is highlighted.
- Display the menu and select Change Option.
- Select the service book that you want to set as the default messaging service book.
- Display the menu and select Save.
For BlackBerry Device Software 4.2 to 4.7
- From the Home screen of the BlackBerry smartphone, click Options.
- Click Advanced Options.
- Click Default Services. The default messaging service book is displayed in the Messaging (CMIME) field.
- Scroll to highlight the default messaging service book.
- Display the menu and select Change Option.
- Select the service book that you want to set as the default messaging service book.
- Display the menu and select Save.
Additional Information
The BlackBerry smartphone will not use the default messaging service book when sending to an email address if a different service book was used previously to send to that email address. The service book last used to send to that email address will be used instead of the default messaging service book.
