KB11307 - Deleting messages in Outlook does not delete message on BlackBerry handheld
KB11307 - Deleting messages in Microsoft Outlook does not delete message on BlackBerry smartphone
Environment
- BlackBerry® Enterprise Server for Microsoft® Exchange
- BlackBerry smartphone
- Microsoft Outlook® 2003
Overview
Deleting a message on the BlackBerry smartphone deletes the message in Microsoft Outlook, but deleting a message in Microsoft Outlook leaves the message on the BlackBerry smartphone.
Cause
The BlackBerry smartphone user's Messaging Application Programming Interface (MAPI) profile is set to Use Cached Exchange Mode.
Resolution
Complete the following steps:
- Create a brand new MAPI profile making sure that the Use Cached Exchange Mode is unchecked.
- Go to the Advanced tab in Redirector Settings/Email Settings in BlackBerry Desktop Manager and then click on the Profile Settings button.
- Choose Always use this profile and select the newly created MAPI profile in the drop-down box.
- Click OK and you will be asked to restart Desktop Manager and Desktop Redirector. The BlackBerry smartphone will now use the new MAPI profile.
- Send some test email messages to the BlackBerry smartphone user's email account to test reconciliation.
