KB10395 - Changing the default view of the messages list to show only enterprise messages from the Inbox that have been redirected by a BlackBerry Enterprise Server

Environment

  • BlackBerry® Enterprise Server
  • BlackBerry smartphones
  • SDR45175

Overview

By default, messages from all folders display on the messages list on the BlackBerry smartphone. This can include personal identification number (PIN) messages, Short Message Service (SMS) messages, Multimedia Messaging Service (MMS) messages, instant messaging conversations, saved web pages, phone call logs or third-party application notifications. Currently, it is not possible to change the default view to show only enterprise messages from the Inbox folder that have been redirected by a BlackBerry Enterprise Server.

Workaround

To temporarily change the messages list view to display only messages that are located in the Inbox, complete the following steps:
  1. Open the Messages application on the Home screen of the BlackBerry smartphone.
  2. Display the menu and select View Folder.
  3. Highlight the Inbox folder and select Select Folder.
To create a shortcut key that will do the above step, complete the following steps:
Note: this will not work on BlackBerry® Storm™ smartphones.
  1. From the Home screen, click Messages.
  2. Press the S key.
  3. Change the Service field to Desktop.
  4. Change the Folder field to Inbox.
  5. Optional: change Show and/or Type fields to desired option.
  6. Press the Menu key.
  7. Click Save.
  8. In the Title field, type a name for the search.
  9. In the Shortcut Key (Alt +) field, select a letter to be the shortcut key.
  10. Press the Escape key.
  11. Click Save.
