Overview
BlackBerry Data Services Requirements
- Routable path of the BlackBerry smartphone to the Internet through Transmission Control Protocol/Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) on port 443
- Optional Unlicensed Mobile Access (UMA)/generic access network (GAN) access - routable path from the BlackBerry smartphone to the Internet through TCP/IP ports 4500 and 500
- Requires carrier support for UMA/GAN
BlackBerry Enterprise Data Services Requirements
- BlackBerry® Enterprise Server version 4.0 and 4.1
- Allocation of Internet Protocol (IP) addresses using Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol (DHCP) or static IP addresses with routable paths:
- BlackBerry smartphone to the BlackBerry Router through TCP/IP on port 4101
- BlackBerry smartphone access to the DHCP server and Domain Name System (DNS) server
- If using network address translation (NAT), enable NAT traversal
- Optional Internet Protocol Security (IPSec) based virtual private network (VPN) – routable path of the BlackBerry smartphone to the VPN concentrator through IPSec/TCP ports 4500 and 500
