KB19081 - BlackBerry Administration Service page shows up as blank after applying MR1
KB19081 - BlackBerry Administration Service page shows up as blank after applying Maintenance Release 1
Environment
- BlackBerry® Enterprise Server version 5.0
- BlackBerry Administration Service
- SDR332933
Overview
When trying to open the BlackBerry Administration Service page after applying maintenance release (MR) 1, the page shows up as blank. The following log lines will be repeatedly shown within the BlackBerry Administration Service Application Server logs.
(06/26 11:27:34:834):{main} [com.rim.bes.basplugin.mdss.webservice.proxy.securetransport.AdminClientPool] [INFO] [ASMS-1014] {u=SystemUser, t=260} Unable to connect to MDS-IS node at [x:x:x:x:x:x:x:x], mark it down!
Please note that x:x:x:x:x:x:x:x indicates the Transmission Control Protocol/Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) in an Internet Protocol (IP) version 6 format.
Once the BlackBerry MDS Integration Service is stopped and the BlackBerry Administration Service is started the page loads up successfully. Later on if the BlackBerry MDS Integration Service is started, the MDSS link under the BlackBerry Solution topology>BlackBerry Domain>Component View>MDS Integration Service is not accesible.
Cause
BlackBerry Administration Service is trying to communicate to the BlackBerry MDS Integration Service via the IPv6 protocol stacks while the underlying socket created as IPv4. This issue will exist when the BlackBerry Administration Server is installed on a Windows® 2008 server and MR1 is applied.
Resolution
This is a previously reported issue that has been escalated internally to our development team. No resolution time frame is currently available.
Workaround
To force the BlackBerry Administrative Service to use the IPv4 protocol follow the steps below.
Warning: The following procedure involves modifying the computer registry. This can cause substantial damage to the Windows operating system. Document and back up the registry entries prior to implementing any changes.
Go under Services, and stop the BlackBerry Administration Service Application Server and BlackBerry MDS Integration Service.
Use RegEdit and go to the following registry key: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\BlackBerry AdministrationService-ApplicationServer\Parameters
Double-click on the JVM Option Count DWORD value.
Set the Value data to decimal 15.
Start the BlackBerry Administration Service - Application Server and BlackBerry MDS Integration Service.
