KB05385 - How to change the GroupWise API connection mode
KB05385 - How to change the GroupWise API connection mode
Environment
- BlackBerry® Enterprise Server version 4.1 SP2 to SP 6 for Novell® GroupWise®
- Microsoft® SQL Server®
Overview
When you install BlackBerry Enterprise Server version 4.1 SP2 and later, you must specify if you want to use the Novell GroupWise 6.5 Object application programming interface (API) or the Novell GroupWise 7.0 Simple Object Access Protocol (SOAP) API.
For example, if you install the BlackBerry Enterprise Server with the Novell GroupWise 6.5 Object API but later want to switch to the Novell GroupWise 7.0 SOAP API, you must change the Novell GroupWise API connection mode.
To change the Novell GroupWise API connection mode
Complete the following steps:
- Stop all BlackBerry Enterprise Server services. Important: Restarting certain BlackBerry Enterprise Server services will delay email message delivery to BlackBerry smartphones. For more information, see KB04789.
- Go to Start > Programs > BlackBerry Enterprise Server, then select BlackBerry Server Configuration. On the Database Connectivity tab, take note of the Microsoft SQL Server and database names, and select Change Database.
- When the Database Wizard appears, click Next. In the second window, enter the Microsoft SQL Server and database names as described in Step 2.
- Continue clicking Next until the you reach the GroupWise Server window, then change the Connection Mode to either GroupWise 6.5 OAPI mode or to GroupWise 7.0 SOAP mode as shown below.

- Continue clicking Next until you reach the last window Start Services.
Note: The graphic shown above is using information from the database that was entered previously. The Next button may not be visible as shown above without this database information.
