KB18743 - "Failed (error=5406) to convert XML record" error occurs repeatedly in the Windows Event Viewer Application Logs after upgrading to BlackBerry Enterprise Server version 5.0

Environment

  • BlackBerry® Enterprise Server version 5.0
  • SDR149139

Overview

After upgrading to the BlackBerry Enterprise Server version 5.0, these errors appear repeatedly within the Application Log of the server running the BlackBerry Enterprise Server software as follows:
[SYNC-UserControl] Failed (error=5406) to convert XML record to device record payload. [:197, DS=Exchange, DB=Address Book, V=0, TB=80, GUID=68090]

Cause

This error occurs due to missing mappings in a table in the database.

Resolution

This is a previously reported issue that has been escalated internally to our development team. No resolution time frame is currently available.

Workaround

  1. In the BlackBerry Administration Service web console, expand the BlackBerry Solution Topology.
  2. Expand BlackBerry Domain.
  3. Expand Component View.
  4. Select Synchronization.
  5. In the main window, switch to the Mappings for organizer data synchronization tab.
  6. Scroll to the bottom of the page and select Edit Component.
  7. Take note of any customized mappings that have been made.
  8. Select Reset global organizer data synchronization mappings.
