Environment
- BlackBerry® Desktop Software 3.6 and later
- BlackBerry smartphone
Overview
Messages between the BlackBerry smartphone and the email client on your computer can be reconciled in one of four ways:
- Wirelessly
- Automatically
- Manually from BlackBerry® Desktop Manager
- Manually from the BlackBerry smartphone
The following table describes the four email reconciliation methods used to update the email client on your computer.
| Wireless | Email is automatically reconciled to ensure messages, appointments, and other items on the desktop email client and BlackBerry smartphone match. | On the BlackBerry smartphone, open Messages. Display the menu, select Options, and verify Wireless Reconcile is On. BlackBerry smartphone based on Java®: wireless email reconciliation is automatically performed every 3 to 5 minutes, or when the number of items to be reconciled reaches 100. If the BlackBerry smartphone is idle, reconciliation occurs at random intervals.
BlackBerry smartphone based on C++: wireless email reconciliation occurs every 10 to 15 minutes or when the number of items to be reconciled reaches 100.

Open the BlackBerry Desktop Manager > Synchronize. Select the Reconcile messages check box and the Automatic synchronization check box.

| Performs manual email reconciliation in the BlackBerry Desktop Manager to control when your email messages are reconciled. | Open the BlackBerry Desktop Manager > Synchronize. Check the Reconcile messages check box and click Synchronize now.
