KB04927 - How to update the BlackBerry Enterprise Server from an evaluation version to a production version

Environment

BlackBerry® Enterprise Server version 4.1 - 5.0

Overview

This article applies to clients using an evaluation version of BlackBerry Enterprise Server software version 4.1 and have purchased a production version of BlackBerry Enterprise Server software version 4.1 or 5.0.
To upgrade from an evaluation to a production version of BlackBerry Enterprise Server, the production Client Access License (CAL), Server Routing Protocol (SRP) Identifier and SRP Authentication Key will have to be updated on the BlackBerry Enterprise Server. The evaluation CAL, SRP Identifier and SRP Authentication Key will expire after a period of time.
For BlackBerry Enterprise Server version 4.1:
To enter the production CAL in BlackBerry Enterprise Server version 4.1, complete the following steps:

Open BlackBerry Manager.
In the left pane, click BlackBerry Domain.
From the Global tab, click Account.
Click License Management.
Type the production CAL.
Click Add License.
Click Close.

To change the SRP Identifier and SRP Authentication Key in BlackBerry Enterprise Server version 4.1, complete the following steps:

In BlackBerry Manager, select the BlackBerry Enterprise Server name, and then select the Server Configuration tab.
From the Tasks menu, click Edit Properties.
In the BlackBerry Enterprise Server properties window, click General.
Type the new SRP Identifier and SRP Authentication Key.
Click Apply, and then click OK.

For BlackBerry Enterprise Server version 5.0:
To enter the production CAL in BlackBerry Enterprise Server version 5.0, complete the following steps:

Open the BlackBerry Administration Service.
On the Servers and components menu, expand BlackBerry Solution topology > BlackBerry Domain > Component view.
Click BlackBerry Administration Service.
Click Edit component.
Locate the existing CAL and click on edit (green wrench) to the right of the CAL.
Add the new CAL to replace the evaluation CAL.
Click Save All.

To change the SRP Identifier and SRP Authentication Key in BlackBerry Enterprise Server version 5.0, complete the following steps:

Open the BlackBerry Administration Service
On the Servers and components menu, expand BlackBerry Solution topology > BlackBerry Domain > Component view > BlackBerry Enterprise Server.
Click the name of the BlackBerry Enterprise Server.
Click Edit instance.
In the SRP addresses section, remove the old SRP and authentication key and type the new information in.
Click Save All.

Note: For BlackBerry smartphone users with BlackBerry smartphones running a version of BlackBerry® Device Software prior to 4.0, the BlackBerry smartphone must be connected to a computer to complete the update.
