KB15244 - Content Protection
KB15244 - Content Protection
Environment
Overview
Content protection is designed to encrypt BlackBerry smartphone data. When content protection is turned on, the BlackBerry smartphone uses a private key to encrypt data as it is stored, including data that the BlackBerry smartphone receives when it is locked. The BlackBerry smartphone decrypts data as you access it.
You can set content protection to include or exclude your contacts. If you turn on content protection for contacts and you receive a phone call when the BlackBerry smartphone is locked, the caller name does not appear on the screen. For more information, see KB04903.
When you lock the BlackBerry smartphone, an open lock indicator appears in the BlackBerry smartphone status section of the screen to indicate that the BlackBerry smartphone is deleting a copy of the private key from temporary memory. A closed lock indicator appears when the BlackBerry smartphone has deleted the key.
