KB13128 - Failed to open default message store error with BES and Exchange 2007
KB13128 - Failed to open default message store error after installing BlackBerry Enterprise Server in a Microsoft Exchange 2007 environment
Environment
- BlackBerry® Enterprise Server software version 4.1 Service Pack 3 (4.1.3) and later
- Microsoft® Exchange Server 2007
- SDR128830
Overview
After installing BlackBerry Enterprise Server software, BlackBerry Manager fails to open and the following message is displayed:
Failed to open default message store, result=0x8004011d
The BlackBerry Messaging Agent also fails to start. The following error is displayed in the BlackBerry Enterprise Server debug logs:
BlackBerry Messaging Agent <Server_Name> Agent 1 failed to start. Error code 5305.
Cause
This issue may be caused by one of the following:- During Microsoft Exchange Server 2007 installation, the administrator is prompted to allow or disallow Microsoft® Outlook® 2003 or earlier from connecting to it. If the system administrator disallows the use of Microsoft Outlook 2003 and earlier from connecting, the installation program does not create a public folder database and does not configure the offline address book.
- MAPI encryption is set to Required on the Microsoft Exchange Server.
Resolution
Cause 1
The installation program did not create a public folder database and did not configure the offline address book.
Resolution
Manually create a public folder database on the Microsoft Exchange Server and manually configure the offline address book.
Cause 2
MAPI encryption is set to Required on the Microsoft Exchange Server.
Resolution
Complete the following steps to configure the two MAPI profiles on the BlackBerry Enterprise Server to use encryption.- Configure the MAPI profile used by the Blackberry Manager for encryption:
- Click Start > Programs > BlackBerry Enterprise Server > Edit MAPI Profile.
- On the Advanced tab under Encrypt information select the When using the network check box.
- Click OK.
- Configure the MAPI profile used by the Blackberry Enterprise Server for encryption:
- Click Start > Programs > BlackBerry Enterprise Server > BlackBerry Server Configuration.
- On the BlackBerry Server tab click Edit MAPI Profile.
- On the Advanced tab under Encrypt information, select the When using the network check box.
- Click OK to save the change.
- Click OK to exit the BlackBerry Server Configuration.
