KB17430 - How to upgrade from BlackBerry Enterprise Server version 3.6 to BlackBerry Professional Software
Environment
- BlackBerry® Enterprise Server version 3.6
- BlackBerry® Professional Software version 4.1 SP4
Overview
It is possible to perform an in-place upgrade of BlackBerry Enterprise Server version 3.6 to BlackBerry Professional Software version 4.1 SP4 providing the prerequisites for BlackBerry Professional Software have been met.
Resolution
Complete the following steps to perform the upgrade:
- Install the latest service pack for BlackBerry Enterprise Server version 3.6.
- Export the user list and server list on the BlackBerry Manager.
- Stop the BlackBerry Enterprise Server services.
- Back up the BlackBerry Configuration Database.
- Extract the BlackBerry Professional Software Installation files. Do not run the installer.
- Manually upgrade the BlackBerry Configuration Database using the Createdb.exe utility. For more information, see KB10354.
- Manually migrate the user accounts using the BESMigration.exe utility. For more information, see KB10354.
- Uninstall BlackBerry Enterprise Server version 3.6 from the server.
- Install BlackBerry Professional Software using the server instance name used in step 7.
