KB13982 - Wi-Fi enabled BlackBerry smartphones cannot access the BES with Wi-Fi
KB13982 - Wi-Fi enabled BlackBerry smartphones cannot access the BlackBerry Enterprise Server using a Wi-Fi connection
Environment
- BlackBerry® Curve™ 8320 smartphone
- BlackBerry® 8820 smartphone
- BlackBerry® Pearl™ 8120 smartphone
Overview
Wi-Fi® enabled BlackBerry smartphones cannot access the BlackBerry® Enterprise Server using a Wi-Fi connection.
Cause
Some wireless service providers disable access to the BlackBerry Enterprise Server using a Wi-Fi connection as the default for BlackBerry smartphones. Unless the system administrator sets the Disable WLAN Access to BES IT policy rule to false on the BlackBerry Enterprise Server, the wireless service provider default prevents the BlackBerry smartphone from accessing the BlackBerry Enterprise Server using a Wi-Fi connection.
Resolution
To resolve this issue, contact the system administrator to have the Disable WLAN Access to BES IT policy rule set to false on the BlackBerry Enterprise Server. Setting the Disable WLAN Access to BES IT policy rule to false replaces the default set by the wireless service provider and allows BlackBerry smartphones to access the BlackBerry Enterprise Server using a Wi-Fi connection.
Additional Information
For BlackBerry Enterprise Server software versions before BlackBerry Enterprise Server software version 4.1 Service Pack 3 (4.1.3), the system administrator must import the latest IT policy rule template that contains the Disable WLAN Access to BES IT policy rule. See KB05439 for more information.
