KB15309 - Internet Explorer has blocked this feature from using an ActiveX control in an unsafe manner. As a result, this page may not display correctly
Environment
- BlackBerry® Administration Service
- BlackBerry® Web Desktop Manager
Overview
After logging into the BlackBerry Web Desktop Manager the configuration tabs are greyed out and inaccessible. You may also get the following browser warning if using Microsoft Internet Explorer v.6.0 or higher:
"Internet Explorer has blocked this feature from using an ActiveX control in an unsafe manner. As a result, this page may not display correctly"
Cause
The HTTPS web page used for the BlackBerry Web Desktop Manager is not designated as a Trusted Site on the remote computer.
Resolution
Within the Microsoft® Internet Options on the remote computer, add the BlackBerry Web Desktop Manager HTTPS site as a trusted site.
If using Microsoft Internet Explorer complete the following steps:
- Open Internet Explorer.
- Click Tools>Internet Options.
- Go to the Security tab.
- Highlight "Trusted Sites" and click the Sites button.
- Add the URL of the Web Desktop page. (ex. https://servername.domain.net/webdesktop)
Note: If you are doing these steps while already on this page the URL should be automatically populated.
- Save the settings and close the Microsoft Internet Explorer window.
- Re-open Microsoft Internet Explorer and navigate to the BlackBerry Web Desktop Manager URL again. On the next login the warning should no longer appear and all options should be available.
