Environment
- BlackBerry® Enterprise Server software version 4.0
- IBM® Lotus® Domino®
- Microsoft® SQL Server 2000

Overview
The BlackBerry Configuration Database, a Microsoft-compliant database, stores configuration information for the BlackBerry Enterprise Server.
One of the following database engines must be installed and available to the computer where you are installing the BlackBerry Enterprise Server:
- MSDE 2000, included on the BlackBerry Enterprise Server Software CD (the BlackBerry Configuration Database is installed locally on the BlackBerry Enterprise Server)
- SQL Server 2000 (the BlackBerry Configuration Database is installed on a remote SQL server)
- Microsoft Data Access Components (MDAC) 2.8 or later should be installed on the BlackBerry Enterprise Server. If the BlackBerry Configuration Database resides on a remote SQL server, MDAC version 2.8 or later must also be installed on the SQL server.
Note: MDAC 2.8 is also required on any computer where BlackBerry Manager is installed.
