Default KB02091 - Verify that the BES administration account can access user mailboxes

KB02091 - Verify that the BlackBerry Enterprise Server administration account can access user mailboxes

Environment

  • BlackBerry® Enterprise Server

Overview

In certain situations, system administrators may need a quick method to test whether the BlackBerry Enterprise Server administration account can access a user’s mailbox. This can be accomplished by running the IEMSTest.exe file.
To run the IEMSTest.exe file
  1. Log in to the BlackBerry Enterprise Server with the BlackBerry Enterprise Server administration account (for example, BESAdmin).
  2. Open a command prompt, then type cd C:\Programs Files\Research In Motion\BlackBerry Enterprise Server\Utility
  3. Type IEMSTest.exe and press ENTER.
  4. At the Choose Profile prompt, select the Messaging Application Programming Interface (MAPI) profile that points to the BlackBerry Enterprise Server Administrator mailbox, then click OK.
  5. At the Select Mailbox prompt, select the mailbox to be verified, click Select, and click OK.

Nice. I forgot all about this one. What does it mean if you run this and you get:

Root Folder opened successfully.
Failed to create a folder in Joe User's mailbox.

Sounds like something is wrong with Joe's (brand new) mail account....*sigh*

I think it's a totally screwed up MAPI profile on the BES. I was able to activate the user's BB using a static mailbox agent.

EDIT: Yep, that was it. Recreated the MAPI profile and IEMStest.exe working great as well as activations (with normal mailbox agent).
