Default KB03409 - Enterprise Activation icon does not appear on the Home screen

KB03409 - Enterprise Activation icon does not appear on the Home screen

Environment

  • BlackBerry® Device Software 4.0
  • BlackBerry® Enterprise Server software version 4.0
  • BlackBerry smartphone

Overview

The Enterprise Activation icon does not appear on the Home screen of the BlackBerry smartphone.

Cause

Summary of Causes
This issue may be caused by one of the following:
  1. The wireless enterprise activation process is complete.
  2. The Enterprise Activation icon is hidden.
  3. The version of BlackBerry Device Software does not support enterprise activation.
  4. The BlackBerry smartphone has not been set up for a BlackBerry Enterprise Server account.
  5. The BlackBerry smartphone is not provisioned properly.

Resolution

Complete the appropriate resolution for the cause.
Cause 1
The wireless enterprise activation process is complete. The Enterprise Activation icon appears only if a wireless enterprise activation is incomplete. Once the BlackBerry smartphone has been activated on a BlackBerry Enterprise Server, the BlackBerry Enterprise Server service books are delivered to the BlackBerry smartphone and the icon disappears from the Home screen of the BlackBerry smartphone.
Resolution
To force the icon to re-appear and to perform a new enterprise activation, delete all data and applications from the BlackBerry smartphone. For instructions, see KB02318.
Warning: This procedure will delete either all data, or all data and applications on the BlackBerry smartphone. Back up the data prior to performing this operation. For instructions, see KB12487.

Cause 2
The Enterprise Activation icon is hidden.
Resolution
To reveal hidden icons on the BlackBerry smartphone, complete the following steps:
  1. On the Home screen, hold the Alt key and open the menu.
  2. Select Show All.

Cause 3
The version of BlackBerry Device Software does not support the wireless enterprise activation feature. BlackBerry Device Software 4.0 and earlier does not support wireless enterprise activation. This feature is only available for BlackBerry Device Software 4.0 and later.
Resolution
Verify the version of the BlackBerry Device Software running on the BlackBerry smartphone. To perform this, complete the following steps:
  1. On the Home screen, click Options.
  2. Select About. The version is displayed on this screen.
If the BlackBerry Device Software version is earlier than 4.0, upgrade the BlackBerry Device Software. For instructions, see KB03901.

Cause 4
The BlackBerry smartphone has not been set up for a BlackBerry Enterprise Server account. Therefore, the service books sent to the BlackBerry smartphone prevent the Enterprise Activation icon from appearing on the BlackBerry smartphone.
Resolution
If the BlackBerry smartphone should be set up for BlackBerry Enterprise Server service, contact the BlackBerry Enterprise Server system administrator.

Cause 5
The BlackBerry smartphone is not provisioned properly. To determine if this is the case, complete the following steps:
  1. From the Home screen, navigate to Options > Advanced Options.
  2. If the menu item Enterprise Activation is not available, the BlackBerry smartphone may not be provisioned properly for BlackBerry Enterprise Server service.
Resolution
Contact the service provider to confirm that the BlackBerry smartphone has been provisioned correctly.

Additional Information

To complete the wireless enterprise activation process without the icon, complete the following steps:
  1. On the Home screen, navigate to Options > Advanced Options > Enterprise Activation.
  2. Enter the corporate email address and the password provided by the system administrator.
  3. Open the menu and select Activate.
  4. Open the menu and select OK.
For more information about wireless enterprise activation, see BlackBerry Wireless Enterprise Activation Release 4.0: Technical Overview.
