KB18419 - "70 Processing Stopped: Invalid PIN" in IT Policy status during Enterprise Activation


Environment

  • BlackBerry® Enterprise Server
  • Microsoft® Exchange 2003 Service Pack 2



Overview

When a BlackBerry smartphone user tries to activate the BlackBerry smartphone over the wireless network, the following error message is received:
Please contact your system administrator
The IT Policy displays the following status:
70 Processing Stopped: Invalid PIN





Cause

The permissions are not set in Microsoft Exchange down to the mail store.



Resolution

Get the BlackBerry smartphone user to log into Exchange System Manager and make sure that the service account has permissions for Send As, Receive As, and Administer Information Store down to the appropriate mailbox store.

If these permissions are not set, make sure that the Allow inheritable permissions option is set.

this doesnt seem right. i get that error message all the time and it never has anything to do with permissions. it shows up when a new user is added to the bes but hasn't activated yet. so the server tries to push policy to them, cant because they dont have a pin 9since they havent activated yet), so it stops trying and gives this message. in my experience this has been more of an informational thing than an error and have never had it be the reason for a failure.

anyone else?

I honestly can't say I remember seeing this message ever ... that said, I can't remember the last time I didn't get other errors from permissions problems.
