Default KB16013 - BlackBerry smartphone users are unable to log into IBM Lotus Sametime

KB16013 - BlackBerry smartphone users are unable to log into IBM Lotus Sametime

Environment

  • BlackBerry® Enterprise Server for IBM® Lotus® Domino®
  • BlackBerry smartphone
  • IBM® Lotus® Sametime®
  • SDR161530

Overview

An organization has seven or more BlackBerry® Enterprise Server instances within their BlackBerry Domain. BlackBerry smartphone users are unable to log into IBM Lotus Sametime from the seventh and subsequent BlackBerry Enterprise Server instance and receive the following error message:
Error 302 : Please contact your administrator to enable this service.

Cause

The combined total of concatenated SRP UIDs and delimiters, which are repesented as commas, exceeds 64 characters.
Note: The amount of BlackBerry Enterprise Server instances that are affected with this issue can vary depending on the length of each SRP UID.
To determine the total character string of concatenated SRP IDs and delimiters, complete the following steps:
  1. Calculate the total characters for each SRP address.
  2. Add the delimiters, which are represented as commas.
  3. Ensure the combined total of SRP characters plus the delimiters does not exceed 64 characters.

Resolution

This is a previously reported issue that has been escalated internally to our development team. No resolution time frame is currently available.

Workaround

Complete one of the following options:
  1. Install another instance of the BlackBerry Collaboration Service.
  2. Group BlackBerry smartphone users that are not using IBM Lotus Sametime on the seventh BlackBerry Enterprise Server instance.
Note: The seventh BlackBerry Enterprise Server is specific to this example, but may change depending on the combined total of SRP UIDs and delimiters.
