KB18053 - BlackBerry Synchronization service stops logging and may hang
KB18053 - BlackBerry Synchronization service stops logging and may hang
Environment
- BlackBerry® Enterprise Server version 4.1 SP6
- SDR286202
Overview
The BlackBerry Synchronization Service stops logging during the log rollover process that occurs each midnight.
The last line logged will be the logger thread initializing:
[30000] (04/14 00:00:00.045):{0x2D8} [DIAG] EVENT=Thread_report, THREADID=0x27DC, THREADNAME="DebugLoggerEx"
This will affect the SYNC, CMNG, CBCK, and CEXC log files.
The BlackBerry Synchronization Service may also hang and stop processing synchronization requests from the BlackBerry Messaging Agent.
This may result in BlackBerry smartphone users reporting issues such as failures to synchronize PIM items (Contacts, Memos, Tasks), or Enterprise Activations stopping at 11%.
Cause
This issue occurs because the BlackBerry Synchronization Service can, in rare cases, get stuck in an infinite loop while attempting to read registry values during log rollover.
Resolution
This is a previously reported issue that has been escalated internally to our development team. No resolution time frame is currently available.
Workaround
Restart the BlackBerry Synchronization Service.
