KB03898 - How to disable subfolder synchronization for PIM folders
Environment
- BlackBerry® Enterprise Server for Microsoft® Exchange version 4.0 to 4.1
Overview
When you upgrade the BlackBerry Enterprise Server to version 4.0 or 4.1 and enable wireless synchronization, the personal information management (PIM) folders (e.g., Contacts, MemoPad, and Tasks) and all their subfolders synchronize with the BlackBerry smartphone.
Note: This feature is by design.
To disable the PIM subfolder synchronization with the BlackBerry smartphone, the DisableSyncingSubFolders registry key must be added to the BlackBerry Enterprise Server.
To disable subfolder synchronization for Contacts, MemoPad and Tasks, complete the following steps:
Warning: The following procedure involves modifying the computer registry. This can cause substantial damage to the Microsoft Windows® operating system. Document and back up the existing registry entries prior to implementing any changes.
- Open the Registry Editor by clicking Start > Run. Type regedit and click OK.
- Go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Research In Motion\BlackBerry Enterprise Server\Agents.
- Right-click the Agents folder and create a new DWORD Value called DisableSyncingSubFolders.
- Double-click DisableSyncingSubFolders, change the Value data field to 1, and click OK.
- Close the Registry Editor.
