Overview
The following error is displayed when you attempt to open BlackBerry Manager:
Failed to open the default message store
Cause
This issue may be caused by any of the following:
- The BlackBerry Enterprise Server service account profile is corrupt.
- The BlackBerry Enterprise Server service account does not have the correct permissions for the Microsoft Exchange Server.
- You are logged in as a Domain administrator, not as a BlackBerry Enterprise Server administrator.
- A Messaging Application Programming Interface (MAPI) client has opened more than the default value of server objects.
Resolution
Perform the appropriate resolution for the cause.
Cause 1
The BlackBerry Enterprise Server service account profile is corrupt.
Resolution 1
Recreate the MAPI profile by following
KB10285.
Cause 2
The BlackBerry Enterprise Server service account being used does not have the correct permissions for the Microsoft Exchange Server.

Switch the BlackBerry Enterprise Server service account to one with the correct permissions. Refer to
KB04293 for instructions.
Resolution 2b
Assign the correct permissions to the BlackBerry Enterprise Server service account. Refer to article
KB02276 for instructions.
Cause 3
You are logged in as a Domain administrator, not as a BlackBerry Enterprise Server administrator.
Resolution 3
Log in as a BlackBerry Enterprise Server administrator.
Cause 4
A MAPI client has opened more than the default value of the following server objects. An error message that is similar to the following may be logged in the application event log in this scenario:
Event ID: 9646
Type: Error
Source: MSExchangeIS
Description:
Closing Mapi session "/o=Organization/ou=Administrative Group/cn=Recipients/cn=user" because it exceeded the maximum of 250 objects of type "objMessage".
