KB03037 - When to create a new MAPI profile
Environment
- BlackBerry® Desktop Manager
- Microsoft® Outlook®
Overview
Consult the following table to determine when a new Messaging Application Programming Interface (MAPI) profile should be created:
Create a New MAPI Profile
- A MAPI profile has not been created or needs to be re-created.
- Personal information management (PIM) software is not synchronizing as expected between the BlackBerry smartphone and the computer.
- The existing MAPI profile is corrupt.
- The BlackBerry smartphone user is unable to map a folder in Intellisync.
- The BlackBerry smartphone user receives the following error: Online connection to your mail server is unavailable.
- The default MAPI profile is configured to deliver new email messages to personal folders (.pst).
Do Not Create a New MAPI Profile
- The MAPI profile is set to use local cache mode. Refer to KB02048.
- There is a duplicate Windows® Messaging Subsystem registry key. Intellisync® is accessing the wrong Windows Messaging Subsystem for the MAPI information. Refer to KB02048 and KB02807.
