KB17566 - PIN messages are being blocked by the BlackBerry firewall


Environment

  • BlackBerry® Enterprise Server version 4.1 SP5



Overview

The letter D appears beside the BlackBerry smartphone user's sent personal identification number (PIN) messages; however, the recipient does not receive the message. The BlackBerry smartphone user is also unable to receive incoming PIN messages.



Cause

BlackBerry Firewall is set to block incoming PIN to PIN messages.




Resolution

To set the IT policy to allow incoming PIN messages for internal and external sources, complete the following steps:
  1. Open BlackBerry® Desktop Manager.
  2. Select the BlackBerry domain.
  3. Select Edit Properties.
  4. Select IT Policy.
  5. Select IT Policy that is being enforced from the list.
  6. Select Properties.
  7. Select Security Policy Group.
  8. Select Firewall Block Incoming Messages.
  9. Deselect PIN Messages (Public) and PIN messages (Corporate).
