Default KB00079 - BBSRPTest errors 10060 and 10061

Environment

  • BlackBerry® Enterprise Server for Microsoft® Exchange software version 2.1 to 4.1.6



Overview

When running BBSRPTest.exe from a command prompt, one of the following errors is received:
gethostbyname <> failed for name error code = 10060
gethostbyname <> failed for name error code = 10061



Cause

This issue can be caused by one of the following:
  1. The port for bi-directional, outbound-initiated traffic is not open or is rejecting outbound connections.
  2. The internet connection timed out.



Resolution

Cause 1
The connection timed out because the port for bi-directional, outbound-initiated traffic is not open or is refusing outbound connections.
Resolution
Make sure that the port is open.

Cause 2
The internet connection timed out.
Resolution
Troubleshoot the internet connection.
