Default KB00092 - BBSRPTest error 11004

Environment

  • BlackBerry® Enterprise Server software versions 2.1 through 4.1 for Microsoft® Exchange
  • BlackBerry® Enterprise Server software versions 4.0 through 4.1 for IBM® Lotus® Domino®
  • BlackBerry® Enterprise Server software versions 4.0 through 4.1 for Novell® GroupWise®

Overview

When you run BBSRPTest.exe from the command prompt, you receive the following error message:
11004 WSANO_DATA (11004) no data record of requested type

Cause

The issue may be caused by one of the following:
  1. The BlackBerry Enterprise Server is unable to connect to the BlackBerry® Infrastructure because the Network Access Node is pointing to the Server Routing Protocol (SRP) host instead of the proxy server.
  2. Another BlackBerry Enterprise Server is using the same SRP identifier.

Resolution

Complete the appropriate resolution for the cause.
Cause 1

The BlackBerry Enterprise Server is unable to connect to the BlackBerry Infrastructure because the Network Access Node is pointing to the SRP host instead of the proxy server.
Resolution

Modify the Network Access Node to point to the Internet Protocol (IP) address of the proxy server.
For BlackBerry Enterprise Server software versions 2.1 through 3.6, complete the following steps:
Warning: A procedure in this article involves modifying the computer registry. This can cause substantial damage to the Windows® operating system. Document and back up the registry entries prior to implementing any changes.
  1. Open the Registry Editor by clicking Start > Run.
  2. Type regedit and click OK.
  3. Depending on the version of your BlackBerry Enterprise Server, go to one of the following locations:
    • For BlackBerry Enterprise Server software version 2.1 HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Research In Motion\BlackBerry\Server
    • For BlackBerry Enterprise Server software versions 3.5 through 3.6 HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Research In Motion\BlackBerry Enterprise Server\Servers\
  4. Double-click NetworkAccessNode.
  5. In the Value data field, type the IP address of the proxy server.
  6. Click OK.
  7. Close the Registry Editor.
For BlackBerry Enterprise Server software versions 4.0 through 4.1, complete the following steps:
  1. Click Start > Programs > BlackBerry Enterprise Server > BlackBerry Server Configuration.
  2. Select the BlackBerry Router tab.
  3. In the SRP Address field, type the correct Network Access Node.
  4. Click Apply, then click OK.

Cause 2

Another BlackBerry Enterprise Server is using the same SRP identifier.
Resolution

Important: Restarting certain BlackBerry Enterprise Server services will delay email message delivery to BlackBerry smartphones. For more information, see KB04789.
On the second BlackBerry Enterprise Server, complete the following steps:
  1. Turn off all BlackBerry Enterprise Server services. Note: For BlackBerry Enterprise Server for IBM Lotus Domino, turn off the IBM Lotus Domino server to prevent it from starting automatically.
  2. Stop all BlackBerry Enterprise Server services.
  3. Start the BlackBerry Enterprise Server services on the new server.
