KB13530 - How to set up the BlackBerry Collaboration Service
KB13530 - How to set up the BlackBerry Collaboration Service
Environment
- BlackBerry® Enterprise Server version 4.1 for Microsoft® Exchange
- Microsoft® Live Communications Server 2005 Service Pack 1 (SP1)
- Microsoft® Office Communicator
- Windows® Messenger
- Windows Server® 2003 Service Pack 1 (SP1)
- SDR271303
Note: Office Communications Server 2007 R2 is currently not supported with the BlackBerry Enterprise Server.
Overview
Prerequisites
- BlackBerry® Mobile Data System (BlackBerry MDS) is installed and running
- Microsoft® .NET Framework version 1.1 Service Pack 1 (SP1) is installed for Windows Messenger support
- Microsoft Message Queuing (MSMQ) version 3.0 is installed for Windows Messenger support Note: If MSMQ is installed separately from the Windows Server 2003, clear the default Microsoft® Active Directory® Integration and Triggers subcomponents and select the Common subcomponent.
- Java® Runtime Environment (JRE) 5.0 update 9
- Microsoft Data Access Components (MDAC) 2.8 Service Pack 2 (SP2)
- Microsoft XML Parser 4.0 SP2
- Microsoft Real-time Communications (RTC) Client application programming interface (API) version 1.3
Preparing the environment
If the instant messaging environment supports Microsoft Office Communicator, the environment must include Microsoft Office Communicator Web Access. Verify that the Microsoft Office Communicator Web Access meets the following criteria:
- Mutual Transport Layer Security (MTLS) certificates are required for communication with the Microsoft Live Communications Server
- Hypertext Transfer Protocol over Secure Sockets Layer (HTTPS) certificates are required for communication with the Microsoft Live Communications Server
To support the Asynchronous JavaScript® and Extensible Markup Language (AJAX) service, install or configure an additional virtual server in the environment with the Microsoft Office Communicator Web Access that meets the following criteria:
- Uses all unassigned Internet Protocol (IP) addresses
- Uses Forms-based authentication only Note: Using integrated authentication is not recommended for supporting HTTPS connections.
- Supports HTTPS browser connections
- Contains an Internet Server Application Programming Interface (ISAPI) filter for both the cwaauth.dll file and the ajax.dll file For more information, see the Office Communicator Web Access: Microsoft Office Communicator Web Access Planning and Deployment Guide at www.microsoft.com.
To support the AJAX service, download the following hot fixes:
- To download the Microsoft Live Communications Server 2005 update, see article 911996 at support.microsoft.com.
- To download the Update for Communicator Web Access 2005, see article 915066 at support.microsoft.com.
If the messaging environment supports Windows Messenger and uses Transport Layer Security (TLS) as the communication protocol, install or import the following certificates on the computer that will host the BlackBerry Enterprise Server:
- For Microsoft Live Communications Server 2005, install or import a Mutual Transport Layer Security (MTLS) certificate
- For Microsoft Live Communications Server 2005 SP1, install or import a server authentication certificate under the computer account
For more information on configuring certificates for Microsoft Live Communications Server, see Live Communications Server 2005 deployment resources.
Installation
The BlackBerry Collaboration Service can be installed using the following options:
- Install during the BlackBerry® Enterprise Server installation
- Incorporate into an existing BlackBerry Enterprise Server
- Install on a remote server Note: For more information on the installation options, see the BlackBerry Enterprise Server for Microsoft Exchange Installation Guide.
To install the BlackBerry Collaboration Service, complete the following steps:
- Run the BlackBerry Enterprise Server installation file and complete the on-screen setup instructions.
- Select Windows Messenger or Microsoft Office Communicator under Instant Messaging Connector.
Note: If using the Live Communication Server 2005 with the TCP/TLS protocols you must select the Windows Messenger install type. If using the HTTP/HTTPS protocols select the Microsoft Office Communicator install type.
Note: The type of service selected during the installation cannot be uninstalled without uninstalling the BlackBerry Enterprise Server and installing another service.
- Complete one of the following:
- For Microsoft Office Communicator, input the host name of the Microsoft Live Communications Server and specify the protocol. For secure connection using HTTPS, the port is 443. For non-secure connection using Hypertext Transfer Protocol (HTTP), the port is 80.

- For Windows Messenger, select Transmission Control Protocol (TCP) port 5060, the default port, or TLS port 5061.

- Complete the installation and start all BlackBerry services.
Additional Information
For more information on error codes for Microsoft Live Communications Server, see KB05479.
