KB15025 - Errors 5608, 5003, and 5201 appear in the Windows Event Viewer logs
KB15025 - Errors 5608, 5003, and 5201 appear in the Windows Event Viewer logs
Environment
- BlackBerry® Enterprise Server software version 4.0 - 4.1
Overview
Errors 5608, 5003, and 5201 appear in the Windows® Event Viewer logs and the BlackBerry Dispatcher, BlackBerry Policy Service, and BlackBerry Synchronization Service fail to start automatically.
Cause
This issue is caused by the BlackBerry Dispatcher, BlackBerry Policy Service, and BlackBerry Synchronization Service attempting to start before the Microsoft® SQL Server® starts.
Resolution
To resolve this issue, update the Windows registry to add a Microsoft SQL Server dependency to the BlackBerry Dispatcher, BlackBerry Policy Service, and BlackBerry Synchronization Service.
Warning: The following procedure involves modifying the computer registry. This can cause substantial damage to the Windows operating system. Document and back up the registry entries prior to implementing any changes.
To update the registry, complete the following steps:
- Click Start > Run.
- Type regedit.
- Press the Enter key.
- Go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services.
- Identify the name of the Microsoft SQL Server listed in one of the following folders:
- MSSQLServer
- MSSQL$InstanceName
- Perform the following steps in the BlackBerry Dispatcher folder, the BlackBerry Policy Service folder, and the BlackBerry SyncServer folder:
- Double-click the DependOnService registry key.
- On the Multi-String Editor screen, type the Microsoft SQL Server name identified in step 5.
- Click OK.
- Close the Registry Editor.
