  • Microsoft® Outlook®



Overview

Calendar entries on the BlackBerry smartphone are not reconciled with the BlackBerry user's Calendar in Microsoft Outlook.
The following error is displayed in the BlackBerry Enterprise Server debug log:
[3] (04/04 15:50:55):{0x182} Server = server01, Mailbox = /o=org/ou=org_unit/cn=recipient/cn=user Description = You do not have permission to log on. [Microsoft Exchange Server Information Store - [MAPI_E_FAILONEPROVIDER(8004011D)]]



Cause

The BlackBerry Enterprise Server administration account does not have the required permissions.
For Microsoft Exchange Server 2000 or Microsoft Exchange Server 2003
The BlackBerry Enterprise Server administration account is not granted one or more of the following permissions at the mailbox store and public folder store levels:
  • Send As
  • Receive As
  • Administer information store
For Microsoft Exchange Server 5.5
The BlackBerry Enterprise Server administration account is not granted the Service Account Admin permission at the site, configuration, public information store, and private information store levels.



Resolution

To grant the required permissions to the BlackBerry Enterprise Server administration account, complete the tasks below that correspond to your environment.
Note: In order to complete the resolution steps, you must be logged in to the computer running the BlackBerry Enterprise Server with an account that can grant permissions to the BlackBerry Enterprise Server administration account.

For Microsoft Exchange 2000 and Exchange 2003

Task 1
Grant the BlackBerry Enterprise Server administration account the View Only Administrator permission to allow read access of the Microsoft Active Directory®.
  1. Open the Microsoft Exchange System Manager.
  2. Right-click an administrative group folder, then select Delegate control.
  3. Click Next, then click Add.
  4. Click Browse.
  5. Select your BlackBerry Enterprise Server administration account, for example BESAdmin, from the list, then click OK.
  6. In the Delegate Control dialog box, select Exchange View Only Administrator from the drop-down list, then click OK.
Task 2
Grant Send As, Receive As, and Administer Information store permissions at the server level.
  1. In the Microsoft Exchange System Manager, expand Administrative Groups.
  2. Right-click the Microsoft Exchange Server that will be hosting the BlackBerry device users’ mailboxes.
  3. Click Properties, then click the Security tab.
  4. Select the BlackBerry Enterprise Server administration account.
  5. In the Permissions window, grant the Send As, Receive As, and Administer Information store permissions.
  6. Click Apply, then click OK.
Task 3
Verify the Send As, Receive As, and Administer Information store permissions are set at the mailbox store level.
  1. Select the mailbox store(s) for the Microsoft Exchange Server(s) that will be hosting the BlackBerry users’ mailboxes.
  2. Click Properties, then click the Security tab.
  3. Select the Allow inheritable permissions from parent to propagate to the object option.
  4. In the Permissions window, verify that Send As, Receive As, and Administer Information store permissions are granted.
Task 4
Grant Send As, Receive As, and Administer Information store permissions at the public folder store level.
  1. Open the Microsoft Exchange System Manager that is installed on the server(s) where the BlackBerry users’ public folder store resides.
  2. Expand Administrative Groups, then expand Servers and storage groups.
  3. Right-click the public folder store that will be hosting the BlackBerry users’ folders.
  4. Click Properties.
  5. On the Security tab, click Add, then select the BlackBerry Enterprise Server administration account.
  6. In the Permissions window, verify that Send As, Receive As, and Administer Information store permissions are granted.

For Microsoft Exchange 5.5

In a Microsoft Exchange 5.5 environment, the BlackBerry Enterprise Server administration account requires the Service Account Admin permission to the site container, configuration container, public information store, and private information store.
Task 1
Grant the Service Account Admin permission to the site.
  1. Open Microsoft Exchange Administrator.
  2. Select the Site container, then click Properties.
  3. On the Permissions tab, grant the Service Account Admin permission to the BlackBerry Enterprise Server administration account.
Task 2
Grant the Service Account Admin permission to the configuration container.
  1. Select the Configuration container.
  2. Click Properties.
  3. On the Permissions tab, grant the Service Account Admin permission to the BlackBerry Enterprise Server administration account.
Task 3
Grant the Service Account Admin permission to the public information store.
  1. Select the public information store that will be hosting BlackBerry users’ accounts.
  2. Click Properties.
  3. On the Permissions tab, grant the Service Account Admin permission to the BlackBerry Enterprise Server administration account.
Task 4
Grant the Service Account Admin permission to the private information store.
  1. Select the private information store that will be hosting BlackBerry users’ accounts.
  2. Click Properties.
  3. On the Permissions tab, grant the Service Account Admin permission to the BlackBerry Enterprise Server administration account.
