KB05128 - Set the wireless enterprise activation password
KB05128 - Set the wireless enterprise activation password
Environment
- BlackBerry® Enterprise Server software versions 4.0 and 4.1
Overview
To enable wireless enterprise activation for a BlackBerry smartphone user on the BlackBerry Enterprise Server, the system administrator must set the activation password on the BlackBerry smartphone user’s account in BlackBerry Manager.
To set the activation password, complete the following steps:
BlackBerry Enterprise Server software version 4.0
- In BlackBerry Manager, click Server.
- On the User List tab, right-click the BlackBerry smartphone user’s account, then click Properties.
- On the General tab, click Set Activation Password.
- Enter a password, then click OK.
BlackBerry Enterprise Server software version 4.1
- In BlackBerry Manager, click the BlackBerry Enterprise Server.
- On the Users tab, click the BlackBerry smartphone user’s account.
- Click Service Access, then click Set Activation Password.
- Enter and confirm the password, set the password expiration age, then click OK.
Once the appropriate steps have been completed, securely communicate the password to the BlackBerry smartphone user.
For instructions on how to complete the wireless enterprise activation on the BlackBerry smartphone, see the BlackBerry Wireless Enterprise Activation Technical White Paper.
Additional Information
Once the BlackBerry smartphone user is successfully activated on the BlackBerry Enterprise Server, the password is no longer required. The password applies to the specified BlackBerry smartphone user's account only.
The password is used only once, for the initial activation of the BlackBerry smartphone, and cannot be used again to establish another activation for that user. The password is not valid after five unsuccessful activation attempts.
If the BlackBerry smartphone user does not activate the BlackBerry smartphone within 48 hours after the password is created, the password expires and cannot be used. When the BlackBerry smartphone is successfully activated, the password is removed from the BlackBerry Enterprise Server.
