Default KB10636 - Set an enterprise activation password using BES version 4.1

KB10636 - Set an enterprise activation password using BlackBerry Enterprise Server version 4.1

Environment

  • BlackBerry® Enterprise Server version 4.1
  • BlackBerry® Device Software version 2.7 through 4.7
  • BlackBerry smartphone

Overview

The BlackBerry Enterprise Server administrator creates a temporary wireless activation password in BlackBerry Manager. The following procedure outlines the steps required to create the temporary password.
  1. Log in to the BlackBerry Enterprise Server as the BlackBerry Enterprise Server service account.
  2. Open BlackBerry Manager.
  3. Select the Server name from the Explorer view.
  4. Select the Users tab.
  5. In the upper-right pane, highlight the BlackBerry smartphone user account to be activated.
  6. Expand the Service Access menu and click Set Activation Password.
  7. Set an activation password and expiry time, then click OK.
  8. Close BlackBerry Manager.

Additional Information

The Activation Password Expiry field is a counter that counts down the number of hours left from the Set Activation Time Limit set by the BlackBerry Enterprise Server administrator. For example: If the BlackBerry Enterprise Server administrator set the Set Activation Time Limit field to 48 hours, the Activation Password Expiry field will show 47 hours. (Count down 47:59).
