KB17435 - A "Besadmin has sent on behalf of users" notification email message is received when creating or updating a meeting invitation on the BlackBerry smartphone
Environment
- BlackBerry® Enterprise Server software version 4.1 Service Pack 4 (4.1.4) to software version 4.1 Service Pack 6 (4.1.6) for Microsoft® Exchange
- Microsoft® Exchange 2007 Service Pack 1 (SP1)
Overview
When a BlackBerry smartphone user creates a meeting appointment or updates a meeting appointment with invitations on the BlackBerry smartphone and sends it, the recipient receives a meeting notification email message indicating the following:
besadmin has sent on behalf of the user.
Cause
This is caused by the Meeting forward notification feature of Microsoft Exchange 2007 SP1, which is active by default.
Resolution
Turn off the Meeting forward notification feature of Microsoft Exchange 2007.
This can be done by performing the following steps to set the option to false:
- Log on to the Microsoft Exchange server and launch the Exchange management shell
- Type get-mailboxcalendarsettings | Set-MailboxCalendarSettings -RemoveForwardedMeetingNotifications $True
Note: This affects the entire organization using Microsoft Exchange.
