KB12430 - Enterprise activation process stops responding
Environment
- BlackBerry® Enterprise Server software version 4.0 and later for IBM® Lotus® Domino®
- BlackBerry® Enterprise Server software version 4.0 and later for Microsoft® Exchange
- BlackBerry smartphone
Overview
When performing an enterprise activation, the process stops responding.
Resolution
To resolve this issue, complete the following steps for either BlackBerry Enterprise Server software version 4.0 or software version 4.1:
For BlackBerry Enterprise Server software version 4.0
- Cancel the enterprise activation process from the BlackBerry smartphone of the BlackBerry smartphone user.
- Delete all data and applications from the BlackBerry smartphone of the BlackBerry smartphone user. Note: For instructions on deleting all data and applications on the BlackBerry smartphone, see KB02318.
- Remove the BlackBerry smartphone user account and state database from the BlackBerry Enterprise Server. Note: For information on how to remove a BlackBerry smartphone user from the BlackBerry Enterprise Server in an IBM Lotus Domino environment, see KB10418. To add or remove BlackBerry smartphone users from all BlackBerry Enterprise Server environments, see KB11638.
- Add the BlackBerry smartphone user account back to the BlackBerry Enterprise Server.
- Navigate to Start > All Programs > BlackBerry Enterprise Server > BlackBerry Manager.
- Click the server in the left Explorer pane. A list of user names appears in the right pane.
- Right-click one of the user names and then select Properties.
- Click the PIM Sync tab.
- Clear the check box beside Enable Wireless Device Management for this user.
- Begin the enterprise activation process again. Note: For instructions on completing enterprise activation, see the Enabling wireless enterprise activation section of the BlackBerry Wireless Enterprise Activation Technical Overview white paper.
- When the enterprise activation process is complete, select the check box beside Enable Wireless Device Management for this user.
For BlackBerry Enterprise Server software version 4.1
- Cancel the enterprise activation process from the BlackBerry smartphone of the BlackBerry smartphone user.
- Delete all data and applications from the BlackBerry smartphone of the BlackBerry smartphone user. Note: For instructions on deleting all data and applications on the BlackBerry smartphone, see KB02318.
- Remove the BlackBerry smartphone user account and state database from the BlackBerry Enterprise Server. Note: For information on how to remove a BlackBerry smartphone user from the BlackBerry Enterprise Server in an IBM Lotus Domino environment, see KB10418. To add or remove users from all BlackBerry Enterprise Server environments, see KB11638.
- Add the BlackBerry smartphone user account back to the BlackBerry Enterprise Server.
- Navigate to Start > All Programs > BlackBerry Enterprise Server > BlackBerry Manager.
- Click BlackBerry Domain in the left-hand Explorer pane.
- Click the All Users tab.
- Select the name of the BlackBerry smartphone user, and then click Edit Properties in the bottom Explorer pane.
- In the left side of the new dialog box, click PIM Sync.
- Under the Message Filters and Message Settings categories, change Synchronization enabled to False.
- Begin the enterprise activation process again. Note: For instructions on completing enterprise activation, see the Enabling wireless enterprise activation section of the BlackBerry Wireless Enterprise Activation Technical Overview white paper.
- When the enterprise activation process is complete, under the Message Settings and Message Filters categories, change Synchronization enabled back to True.
