KB12547 - Potential errors when downloading the DST patch to the BlackBerry smartphone
Environment
Overview
When downloading the 2007 Daylight Saving Time (DST) patch, the BlackBerry smartphone Event Log may display one of the errors described in this article.
Note: To view the Event Log, on the Home screen, press and hold the Alt key, then type lglg.
The Event Log ID on the BlackBerry smartphone is displayed as tzotapatcher -
0x82 Error reading patch details The BlackBerry smartphone cannot process the patch.txt file from the content server.
0x83 Error downloading patch A Hypertext Transfer Protocol (HTTP) error, other than a 404 error, occurs.
0x84 Error installing patch The download is complete but an exception occurs while attempting to install the patch.
0x85 Error resetting patcher The maximum number of errors occurs and the BlackBerry smartphone stops trying to download the patch.
0x89 Patch data not complete The data received for the patch was incomplete.
0x90 Unexpected state The Patch Manager cannot determine whether the patch is properly installed on the BlackBerry smartphone.
0x92 Bad NPC calculation The BlackBerry smartphone cannot locate the network. The Network Provider Code (NPC) information is required for creating a connection to the patch through a wireless network.
Note: This error may also occur if the BlackBerry smartphone is connected to a Mobitex® network.
0x8B Sync db init failed The time zone patch database creation and initialization process is not complete.
0x8C Reschedule failed The BlackBerry smartphone attempts to schedule running the Patch Manager again but is unsuccessful.
0x8E 404 URL not found The BlackBerry smartphone cannot locate the patch.
0x8F Error downloading patch 404 The BlackBerry smartphone cannot download the patch.
0xFF Unknown error The cause of this error is unknown.
These are previously reported issues. No resolution time frames are currently available. Collect the BlackBerry smartphone Java® Event Logs and email them to help@blackberry.net. For more information on collecting and sending Java Event Logs, see KB05349.
