Environment

Overview
After switching the BlackBerry® Enterprise Server from using Object Application Programming Interface (API) connection mode to using SOAP mode, the message icons on the BlackBerry smartphone change to folder icons for some BlackBerry smartphone users.
Cause
When using SOAP mode an additional three characters are added to every folder ID (for example @13). BlackBerry smartphones using BlackBerry Device Software 4.2 fail to update the folder IDs correctly resulting in mismatched folders. When this happens, the email messages on the BlackBerry smartphone appear to be filed.
Resolution
To resolve the issue, complete the following steps:
- Upgrade the BlackBerry smartphone to BlackBerry Device Software 4.5 or later.
- Install BlackBerry Enterprise Server 4.1 Service Pack 6 Maintenance Release 3.
