I've never been a big fan of cases for any phone I've had - especially my BlackBerry's which get utterly hammered from excessive use!

However, after my first Bold went faulty I've just sorted myself out with a shiny new one, and with a baby on the way I'm conscious that now might be the right time to invest in some protection (for the former that is, protection against baby's is a bit late now)!!

The Bold isn't the smallest device so I'm conscious that whatever I get will be swallowing up more pocket space, so I want to be sensible with it. I'm looking at the Otterbox Impact case:

I think this is actually quite nice looking, and as the Bold is a slick looking device anyway, I'm keen not to lose that feel. I am conscious of any cases getting in the way of keys, and I'm ever so slightly concerned that the Impact case might get in the way of the CAPS, alt and Space bar.

On my search I also came across these privacy screen protectors. I'm not a fan of these at all as my general experience of screen protectors has been a combination of a loss in screen clarity and a lot of air bubbles!!! However, the idea of privacy style coverage I quite like:

If anyone has any experience of these, or any suggestions for other potential contenders, I'd appreciate your thoughts.

I have that privacy screen and it took a little while to get used to it because it does darken the screen some. I really like it because it does give me more privacy then I've had before like when sitting in the Dr's office waiting to go back to see him. Zero air bubbles and finger prints are a thing of the past. It cleans up nice and quick like when my wife uses my Bold to talk to her Mom and get's some makeup on the screen, 1 quick swipe with a cotton cloth and it's clean and looking new again.

Last night I was finishing some emails before going to sleep and normally my wife can see what I'm typing but last night she kept asking what I was typing because she couldn't see the screen and she was laying right next to me. That should give you an idea how much privacy it provides.

Forget the bulky Otterbox. I strongly suggest a Seidio Innocase 360 from Seidio.com. I had never heard of Seidio until I got my 8900. The Innocase 360 has a built in screen guard and keyboard protector like the Otterbox, but it's the thinnest, and strongest case you can buy. And it comes in black, blue, burgundy, and pink. You won't be disappointed. Follow this link and it'll take you straight to the Innocase 360 for your Bold. Seidio also carries their own extended life batteries, battery covers, and holsters to fit their cases. I think once you've seen the Seidio cases you'll forget all about the Otterbox.

I can see the link just fine. I like the otterbox cases, they work well in environments where your phone is in danger. I just ordered some for my Jav too

I went for a case-mate holster in the end. It's really good and the best case I've owned by far. Sure, it's not protected when I'm using it, but I don't care about that.
