Hard Deleting a message is not the same as Deleting a message.
When you Delete a message, it's placed in the Deleted Items folder in the mailbox. This is what BES typically uses to reconcile the deletion to the handheld.
When you Hard Delete a message, it's NOT placed in the Deleted Items folder in the mailbox. It's simply gone.
In order for that message deletion to be reconciled to the handheld, 'Hard Delete Reconciliation' must be enabled on the BES.
